Tenor Ben Bliss debuted with Seattle Opera in Mozart’s Così fan tutte (’17) and returned in 2018 as Peter Quint in Brittens’ eerie The Turn of the Screw. “You’ll seldom hear a finer performance” (The New York Times) and Bliss’s Summer of Songs recital will be no exception.
Bliss has prepared a varied program with selections by Mozart, Gounod, and Strauss, collaborative performances with Barnaby Bright, Sammy Miller and The Congregation, and self-accompanied pieces by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and more.
The partner organization for this recital is LANGSTON—a nonprofit that centers Black art, artists, and audiences in its work. LANGSTON is the organization behind the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center in the Central Area of Seattle. We are honored to have a budding partnership with LANGSTON, and we encourage you to learn more about this organization. Originally created by three Black artists, the Artist Relief Fund has provided almost $600,000 in relief, particularly for Black artists and other artists of color.
If you are enjoying our digital opera offerings, please make a donation to support the artists and staff that are collaborating to bring you opera in new ways.
