Shujaat: Celebrating Resilience

Hear more about the vital work being done in our community to support local Afghan women refugees, as well as women still living in Afghanistan. In the year and a half since the fall of the Afghan government in Kabul, the Puget Sound region has been leading the nation in welcoming individuals and families from Afghanistan, thanks to the passionate and coordinated response of resettlement agencies and community-based organizations in this region. Moreover, Seattle-based Sahar Education is continuing to find alternative ways to foster education for girls and women in Afghanistan despite the Taliban's reimposition of a near-total ban on girls’ education.

Join us on International Women’s Day for a Community Conversation co-hosted by the Center for Women & Democracy with representatives from Refugee Women’s Alliance, Refugee Artisan Initiative, and Sahar Education.
