Known for her luscious voice “melting all hearts” (The Chicago Tribune), Colombian-American Soprano Vanessa Vasquez was scheduled to make her McCaw Hall debut in our 2020 production of La bohème. Instead, she will make her Seattle Opera debut in our Songs of Summer series. Ms. Vasquez treats audiences to a special program entitled Sweet Dreams: A Midnight Recital of Night and Cradle Songs.
Curated to soothe our collective stress, the program includes art songs by Richard Strauss, Franz Schubert, Manuel de Falla, Gabriel Fauré, and Antonín Dvořák, plus a traditional American lullaby and “Ave Maria” from Verdi’s Otello.
