Please join us for an intimate, in-person conversation on the state of modern philanthropy, including planned giving and legacy. This workshop-style gathering offered by the Seattle Opera – in partnership with Graystone Consulting from Morgan Stanley, Phila Giving, Seattle Foundation, and Baker Tilly – will explore recent trends in philanthropic giving and the elemental components of prudent, sensible estate planning.

The workshop will cover:

  • Recent trends in philanthropic giving.
  • Holistic and integrated tax and transaction planning.
  • How to formulate strategic, forward-looking, and long-term succession wealth planning.
  • How to consider legacy planning for the charitable causes that are important to you.

Chad Bolick is an Executive Director with Graystone Consulting who focused on philanthropic advisory for foundations and nonprofits. Based in the Bay Area, Chad is responsible for providing customized investment and philanthropic advisory services to private foundations, community foundations, corporate foundations, endowments, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Chad brings 20+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate philanthropy, foundation strategy, and nonprofit effectiveness to the team.

Stephanie Ellis-Smith is the CEO and founder of Phila Engaged Giving, a philanthropic advisory firm founded in 2017 that works with donors who are ready to activate their assets for social change. As an advisor and social impact specialist, she works toward a world where philanthropy is a nurturing and equity-centered practice that connects wealth to the people and communities who need it most.

Cindy Sharek

Cindy Sharek
Cindy Sharek works with philanthropists to provide impactful strategies aligned with Seattle Foundation’s commitment to racial equity. Cindy has nearly 30 years of nonprofit experience in King County. Most recently, Cindy served as Interim Executive Director of the King County Library System Foundation where she was an advocate for literacy and learning programs for 12 years. Her background includes development positions in major and planned gifts, special events, grant writing, and corporate relations.
