Experience an intimate recital in Tagney Jones Hall featuring our 2023/24 Resident Artists, soprano Camille Ortiz and baritone Michael J. Hawk. The program will feature a rich selection of works from both the opera and musical theatre canon, including pieces from Strauss, Bernstein, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and more.
Seattle Opera donors at the Supporter level ($500+) and above: when you purchase a ticket for the recital, you will be automatically added to the complimentary post-show Meet and Greet with the artists immediately following the recital. Refreshments will be available.

Camille Ortiz Soprano (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) Camille Ortiz, who currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at the University of Oregon, has appeared recently with Opera Lafayette at the Kennedy Center, Opera Orlando, and Boston Baroque. In her time as a Resident Artist, which runs through December 2023, Ortiz will appear in the 60th Anniversary Concert & Gala and will cover Freia and Woglinde in Das Rheingold and Morgana in Alcina.
Michael J. Hawk Baritone (Fredonia, NY) Michael J. Hawk is a graduate of LA Opera’s Young Artist Program, and his recent schedule has included appearances with LA Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and the Buffalo Philharmonic. Hawk will perform with Seattle Opera through the end of the 2023/24 season, performing the role of Fiorello in The Barber of Seville, singing in the 60th Anniversary Concert & Gala, and covering Donner in Das Rheingold.
Jay Rozendaal Piano (Bellingham, WA)Jay Rozendaal is Coach-Accompanist on the staff of Seattle Opera having served on numerous productions since 1991, including three Ring cycles. He has also worked on the staffs of San Francisco Opera, Dallas Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Portland Opera, and Central City Opera. Rozendaal is also a member of the voice faculty at Western Washington University, having served as music director for Western's Opera Studio. He has appeared regularly around the Pacific Northwest in recital, chamber, and concert engagements.
New in the 2023/24 season, our Resident Artist positions give opera singers salaried, full-season experience with Seattle Opera, where they will receive professional development, performance, and mentorship opportunities along with the stability of a long-term partnership. Learn more
