FAQs

Frequently asked questions for streaming

Seattle Opera truly appreciates your support and interest during these challenging times. While nothing can replace live performances, we hope you will enjoy access to streams of recorded performances.

Currently, subscribers who were ticketed for an event and did not request a refund, donate their ticket back, or attend their performance in person will have limited-time access to a stream of our productions. For more information, please see below.

Don't see an answer to your question? Contact Audience Services at 206.389.7676, Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM–6:00 PM or email tickets@seattleopera.org.

When will I get my streaming link?

We will send an email 1-2 weeks after closing night of your production with a link to watch your performance over the following 7 days.

How do I access my stream?

Subscribers who have not requested a refund and did not attend their performance in person have two ways to access their performances.

1) Log in to your Seattle Opera account and on the date of streaming, you will see a link to watch your performance.

2) We will send an email on the premiere date to all those who qualify for access. You will be able to use that link to watch your performance over the next 7 days.

I want to watch online! I do get emails from Seattle Opera but I’ve never logged in to your website.

Great! You do have an online account, but you just need to finish setting it up. At the top center of our homepage, click the light brown words that say “Log In”. This will bring you to our LOG IN page. Click “Reset Your Password”. This will open a new window that will prompt you to enter your email address—use the email address that you receive Seattle Opera emails at. This will automatically send you an email so you can set a new password and then you will be all set.

Can I watch performances on my smart tv?

Yes! We have outlined a few different ways to watch your streams on a smart TV. Streams of this performance will be via our YouTube channel. While we have tried to be as comprehensive as possible with our instructions, there are many, many variables with television technology today and we can't guarantee that these instructions will work in every combination. Thank you for your understanding.

I have never logged into the website. What should I do?

Send our Audience Services team an email us at tickets@seattleopera.org and we will help get your online account set up.

HOW CAN MY SEATMATE WATCH THESE EVENTS? WE DO NOT LIVE TOGETHER.

As a subscriber, you can let us know who your seatmate is by contacting Audience Services at tickets@seattleopera.org and they will create an account for your seatmate if they do not already have one. Then we will be sure to give them the same access to streaming events that you have. It is also okay for you to forward them the email with the link. However, please only send to someone who would have attended the opera with you as these streams are only for our current subscribers.

How can Seattle Opera bring people together to produce these events? Health experts consider singing a super-spreader activity. How will you protect the safety of singers, musicians, and administrative staff?

Our artists, musicians, and staff will comply with standards mandated by the governor and public health officials. In addition, we’re working very closely with the American Guild of Musical Artists and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, implementing the best practices to maintain health and safety. These practices include requiring all Seattle Opera staff, cast, crew, and musicians to be vaccinated, wearing masks inside our facilities, social distancing, and frequent hand washing. Moreover, all singers are tested before the rehearsal period begins as well as throughout the rehearsal and recording process.
