At Seattle Opera in 2016/17: Tancredi, The Combat

The Combat marks Thomas Segen’s Seattle Opera debut. Segen has recently performed with the American Bach Soloists and Pacific MusicWorks, and he performed several roles in Seattle Opera’s youth opera Our Earth. In the past year, he performed Ferrando in Così fan tutte and Don José in The Tragedy of Carmen at Opera UCLA. He also won first prize in the Walter Jurmann Voice Competition. Upcoming performances include Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, and his return to Opera UCLA in the role of Henry Crawford for Jonathan Dove's Mansfield Park. He graduated this fall with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from UCLA.

At Seattle Opera in 2016/17: Soprano 1, The Combat

Linda Tsatsanis makes her Seattle Opera debut with this production. Her concert performances range from oratorio to renaissance song to contemporary music. She has soloed with Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, and Early Music Guild, among others. Recent roles include the title roles in Semele and Agrippina with Portland Baroque Opera and Una Ingrata in Il ballo delle ingrate with Pacific MusicWorks. Last year she performed William Bolcom’s song cycle Let Evening Come at Carnegie Hall. She has two albums: And I Remain: Three Love Stories and Beethoven alla Britannia. She is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Washington.

Danielle Sampson makes her Seattle Opera debut with this production. A regular performer of baroque, classical, and contemporary music, Sampson recently performed Ruggiero in Alcina with Black Box Baroque in San Francisco, the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas with Early Music Vancouver, and Melanto in Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria with the Boston Early Music Festival. She has also recently performed with Pacific MusicWorks, Amaranth String Quartet, and Nash Baroque Ensemble. She is a founding member of the guitar/voice duo Jarring Sounds (with Adam Cockerham); the duo performed at the Berkeley Early Music Festival and has recorded a self-titled album.

At Seattle Opera in 2016/17: The Combat

Candace Frank previously designed Don Giovanni for Seattle Opera's Young Artists Program.  She has been designing and teaching for 14 years and is currently Costume Lead at Seattle University. She recently held the positions of Costume Shop Manager at Intiman Theatre and Costume Manager at ACT Theatre, and Seattle Met magazine named her a Seattle Artist to Watch. She has designed costumes for many local theaters, including Stick Fly with Intiman Theatre; Penelope and The Magic Flute with Vespertine Opera; Jesus Moonwalked the Mississippi and The Wild Party with Sound Theatre Company; and many costumes with Lucia Neare's Theatrical Wonders.
