Wines of the Rhine is SOLD OUT.
A first of its kind Seattle Opera event! Join Music & Wine Historian and Certified Sommelier Ron Merlino for an introduction to the vines, wines, and geography of the Rheingau region of Germany—the real-life location of The Ring legend. In this deep dive immersive tasting event, we’ll examine Richard Wagner's life-long passion for wine in the context of the text and music of his operas, specifically Das Rheingold and The Ring.
Guests will taste 5 different wines from several parts of the Rhineland and Franconia—wines that Wagner himself kept in his own cellar and enjoyed throughout his life. These wines will be presented in the historical context of Wagner's lifetime, connecting the very principles that inform winemaking and vine-growing in Germany today to the same beliefs that motivated Wagner to tell his Ring story to the world. Conductor Ludovic Morlot will join the post show conversation.
Add-on tickets for Wines of the Rhine are $85 or 2 Flex Pass credits per person and include one tasting before the performance and four tastings plus small bites after the performance. Wines will include four whites/sparkling and one red.
