2025/26 SEASON
October 18–November 1, 2025
Performance Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes including one intermission
Movie-style rating of G for:
- Sense of humor
- Light romance
- Bright, tuneful, colorful
A show to delight kids and adults alike. Bubbly, catchy tunes, appealing characters (including absurdly gentle pirates and timid police), and a light-hearted story make this operetta a perennial favorite. Some of the jokes are aimed at little kids, some are more sophisticated.
January 16 & 18, 2026
Performance Time: 1 hour and 50 minutes with no intermission
Movie-style rating of PG for:
- Concert production
- Only one long act (no intermission)
- Mythic story about magic transformation
This stylized concert opera won’t show any sex or violence. The story concerns a female character dealing with the unwanted attention of two male admirers, one of whom kills the other.
February 21–March 1, 2026
Performance Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes including one intermission
Movie-style rating of R for:
- Sexual content
- Possible onstage nudity
- Story concerns paranoia about Communism and institutionalized homophobia
Although the music of Fellow Travelers is powerful and accessible to all audiences, we do not recommend this opera for young children, though it may be appropriate for older teens. The opera includes an intense onstage love scene between two male characters, as well as characters who express homophobic sentiments. Those who choose to bring a youth should prepare them with historical background about the Red Scare and the concept of being "closeted."
May 2–17, 2026
Performance Time: 3 hours and 30 minutes including two intermissions
Movie-style rating of PG-13 for:
- Themes of sex and seduction
- Onstage fighting, violence, and murder
- Positive representation of cigarette smoking
- Positive representation of bullfighting
Audeinces love the catchy tunes, strong characters, easy-to-follow plot, and colorful setting of Carmen. However, there are themes of sex and onstage depictions of violence in this hugely popular opera.
